Blue Mass for First Responders Set for
May 8

The Diocese of Brownsville and the Blue Mass Committee
invite all first responders to a Mass in their honor at 12 noon on Wednesday, May
8 at the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle-National Shrine.

Register Now for Fourth Annual Youth Stewardship
Retreat

The Stewardship & Development Office is now taking
registrations, on a first-come, first-served basis, for the upcoming FREE event
for your parish’s youth ages 12-16.  Set
for June 29, this event is our fourth annual Stewardship Retreat, and for the
first time, this year is open to both boys and girls. Registration must be sent
back signed by a parent or legal guardian. Also, we invite 10 adult chaperones,
duly vetted through the diocesan Safe Environment protocol, to join us for this
day of stewardship fun and learning.  For

Msgr. Barrera’s 40th Anniversary May 4

Msgr. Gustavo Barrera, pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows
Catholic Church, will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of his priesthood May
4, 2019 with Holy Mass and Reception at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Our Lady of

Divine Mercy Pilgrimage to Eastern
Europe This Summer

St. Therese of Lisieux Parish in San Benito, under the
spiritual direction of Father Joe Villalón, is organizing a pilgrimage to five
countries in Eastern Europe from July 8-18. The pilgrimage includes round-trip
airfare from McAllen and stops in Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia
and Hungary, with daily Mass and observance of the Divine Mercy Feast Day.
Highlights include following the footsteps of St. John Paul and visits to Our
Lady of Czestochowa, Our Lady of Kalwaria, St. Vitus and St. Wenceslao, the
Infant Jesus of Prague, Our Lady of Svata Hora and St. Istvan’s Cave Church.

Cost per person is $3,990 per person (double occupancy) and

    for the Lay Ministry Institute (full-time) –
    The Diocese of Brownsville is

    Lay Ministry Institute. This person will direct and perform all

    primary role of this position is to coordinate, assist and oversee all Parish
    and Diocesan Advocates, who represent the Petitioner or the Respondent in formal
    nullity cases assigned. Tribunal Advocate will prepare written briefs for all
    cases that will be presented to the Diocesan Tribunal Court.

minister coordinator for the Newman Center in Brownsville.  The role of this position is to collaborate
with the Campus Ministry Coordinator in designing and facilitating prayer
activities, study groups, retreats, service projects, and fellowship
opportunities relevant to the needs of the students and diocese, while
fostering an environment for shared leadership.

Partial list of requirements:

  • Two or more years of relevant experience in Catholic
    ministry with youth and young adults.
  • High school graduate or equivalent with some college.

    The Diocese of Brownsville is

    Pastoral Center in San Juan.

The primary function of this position is to provide
information technology assistance to the Diocese of Brownsville Pastoral
Centers as well as to the Diocese’s contracting entities.

Duties will include installing, upgrading and
troubleshooting hardware and software components as needed; providing personnel
with software and hardware technical support; helping install, upgrade, and
configure network components; and assisting in supporting LAN jobs like user
accounts, email, network printers, share folders, backups, etc.

    Grande Valley has an opening for a Catholic Campaign For Human Development
    Internship.

Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is the
domestic anti-poverty social justice program of the United States Catholic
Bishops. CCHD grants local anti-poverty efforts that are in close partnership
with local Catholic dioceses an opportunity to improve their communities by
supporting organizations led by low-income individuals. The CCHD internship
position is an opportunity to gain experience working with and on behalf of the
poor while learning more about social justice education, Catholic social
