Diocese Unveils Land Donation for Plaza Amistad Project in Donna

All Faiths United invites the entire community to an “Interfaith Food & Culture Day: Giving Thanks for the Gift of Faith” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2 at Gonzalez Elementary Park, 201 E. Martin Ave. in McAllen. Different faith traditions will offer a sampling of foods and games. Presentations and performances are also scheduled throughout the event.

Special Needs Mass at the Basilica
A Special Needs Mass is set for 11:30 a.m. Dec. 9 and the second Saturday of every month at the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle in San Juan. All are welcome at this Mass, which is made to serve children and individuals with special needs so that they may worship in their own special way without judgment. McAllen Parish to Mark Golden Jubilee
The parish community of St. Joseph the Worker and its pastor Fr. Edouard Atangana announce the 50th anniversary of the dedication of St. Joseph the Worker Church in McAllen. St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Altar Society in Donna will host a breakfast/raffle fundraiser Dec. 10. Come and enjoy homemade breakfast tacos and delicious menudo, just like Grandma used to make! ‘Good Grief’ – Training for Grief Ministry Program
The Family Life Office in collaboration with the Diocesan San Juan Diego Ministry Institute is presenting “Good Grief,” facilitator training for parish leaders, catechists and others interested in facilitating a 10-week grief ministry program in their parishes to help people who have lost a loved one through death or divorce.
Participants will be introduced to two grief programs: “The New Day Program” for those who have lost a loved one, and “Divorce and Beyond” for those who have lost a spouse through divorce. Training will include:
• Studying the stages of grief and the journey to healing.
• Reflecting and sharing on their own experience of dealing with loss.
• Completing written homework assignments.
• Practicing facilitation skills (Role play both as a participant and as a facilitator).
Course fee is $35 includes and includes two books. Registration is open until Jan. 12, 2018.
Classes will be held 7-9 p.m. each Tuesday from Jan. 16 through March 6, 2018 at St. Joan of Arc Parish, 109 S. Illinois Ave. in Weslaco.
